Measurement
For a vertical piano (strings run up and down), measure from the
floor to the top. Width and depth are pretty much the same on
all verticals. For grands, measure from the lip on the back lid to
an imaginary plumb line dropped down
to the front of the piano.

Location
Knowing only the distance between pick-up and delivery is not
enough information. There is also the drive to the pick-up point,
and the drive back from delivery. The Kansas City metro encom-
passes 584 square miles, and driving those miles with a helper in
a delivery truck can easily burn a couple of hours and 10 gallons
of gas. However with the aid of exact addresses and MapQuest,
a more precise time and trip-tick can be calculated.
Specifics
When it comes to piano moving, driving is the easy part and the
devil is in the details. This part may prove too complicated to
capture in a form. For example, if there are stairs, how many
are there? Is there a turn at the top or bottom? Is it a straight
case or are there turns and/or landings? If there is a landing, is
it large enough to accommodate 2 guys and a piano? The comment
section might assist in explaining the specifics, or a phone
call
might be a better approach. A photo emailed might be worth a
thousand words. If not too far off the "beaten path, it is pos-
sible for me to swing by and have a gander. Occasionally, a piano
simply can't go where someone wants to put it. Putting effort
into the planning is a much better approach than trying to figure
my way out of the middle of a mess.
